Client Challenge

Sikich was engaged by a small medical practice to assess their Human Resources function because the organization was experiencing high turnover, frequent employee relations issues and low employee morale. The recommendation from Sikich, based on the results of the HR Assessment, was for the organization to hire a dedicated Human Resource Manager to drive HR initiatives, provide guidance to the organization’s leaders, and implement programs and strategies to boost employee engagement. Once the organization’s stakeholders had a roadmap of HR priorities and a plan to move forward, they needed assistance to define the HR role and recruit the appropriate individual for the job.

The Solution

Sikich assisted the client with crafting a comprehensive job description for the HR Manager that encompassed the expertise needed to execute the identified HR initiatives and priorities. Additionally, Sikich worked closely with the organization to define what intangible traits a candidate would need to ensure a strong culture-fit.

Through a multifaceted recruitment approach that included procuring candidates through online job advertisements, reaching out to passive candidates, and tapping into an expansive professional network, Sikich generated a candidate pool of qualified individuals for the role. Out of a pool of 74 candidates, 12 candidates were screened by Sikich’s team and the client met with the top four (4) candidates.

The client was pleased with the high-level quality of candidates they met and ultimately hired their top candidate choice that was obtained through Sikich’s proactive outreach efforts.

The Results

Two and a half years later, the individual that was hired for the HR Manager role was recently promoted to Business Manager and oversees all HR, administrative, and operational functions for the practice. The organization’s leaders now spend more of their valuable time focused on strategic business initiatives and patient care, and less time addressing HR and administrative issues that arise. Additionally, employee turnover has greatly decreased, employee morale is at an all-time-high, and their organization has grown so significantly that they plan to open a second location next year.
