Sikich has the distinction of being the first Microsoft Dynamics partner to take a manufacturing company live on Microsoft Dynamics AX 7. Sikich was a chosen as a member of the Microsoft Testing and Adoption Program (TAP) for this new release. This first version of the new AX will be a Public Cloud version, using shared infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. Sikich was chosen by Microsoft for their unique expertise in architecting, deploying, supporting and managing complex enterprise AX implementations.

In the Microsoft TAP program, a chosen customer commits to working with a Partner and the Microsoft Dynamics AX Product Team resources to plan, design, develop, test, and implement the Dynamics AX 7 solution in production prior to release. The primary goals of the AX 7 TAP includes validating product quality by augmenting and enabling feature coverage mapping, collateral gathering, and testing via actual production customer deployments.

Sikich reached out to long time customer Hagler Systems to participate in this early adoption program. As a modern, forward thinking manufacturer, Hagler was a great choice. Hagler Systems services dredging, mining and oil companies. They package and design equipment to pump sand, gravel and rock; they design and represent slurry pump solutions along with other dredge equipment suppliers from the U.S. and Europe. By being part of the program, Hagler benefited by building competitive advantage by using new features before release, early access to code and product documentation, knowledge acquisition before wide availability (training events, Webcasts, training documentation) and an opportunity to influence quality of the product.

The Microsoft Dynamics AX 7 TAP program brought an enhanced level of sophistication and complexity in that they are using all of the major functionally within AX 7 for Engineer-to- Order, Sales and Quoting, Project Manufacturing, Financials, Supply Chain, Warehousing and Shipping.  For this new version, they moved the “on premise” PTC Windchill 10.2 version, which is an extremely well known worldwide Product Life Cycle Management software, to operate in the cloud integrating with AX 7.  Now Hagler has the ability to design new products within the CAD and the PLM systems and take those CAD drawings and bring the items and BOM’s in AX 7, with no human intervention.

Hagler has already started seeing tremendous benefits to their operation since going live on Microsoft Dynamics AX 7. Microsoft Dynamics AX 7 is highly flexible and powerful with a large range of mature customizations available for manufacturing business requirements. It is an exciting new release and Sikich looks forward to helping other manufacturers work smarter than ever before with intelligent tools for the modern workplace.
