The new lease accounting standards, ASC 842, Leases, is lengthy and can get very complex. The original Accounting Standards Update (ASU 2016-02) is nearly 200 pages, and that doesn’t include the amendments in a number of subsequent ASUs.
To help lessee entities become familiar with the requirements of the new standards, Sikich prepared the “ASC 842 Lessee Handbook.” At 33 pages, including a two-page policy election template, this handbook provides lessees with a foundational understanding of the new standards without having to skim through hundreds of pages or piece together numerous sources.
