Thompson Addresses IMA
AURORA, IL - October 20, 2003:
Rick Thompson, CPA, Tax Partner, with Sikich Gardner & Co, LLP, spoke at a recent Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Technical Meeting. The IMA is an international organization of accounting, finance, and information management professionals.
Thompson discussed the numerous tax changes passed by the Illinois General Assembly and signed into law June 20, 2003, as a means to enhance revenue for the state. Thompson highlighted key provisions which affect business taxpayers, notably, the increase in the income tax burden, the elimination of many sales and use tax exemptions, and the Tax Delinquency Amnesty Act.
Thompson is a tax specialist with more than 20 years experience. He concentrates on income tax, estate tax, and financial planning for closely held businesses, their owners, and individuals. Thompson is the chair of the firm’s tax committee and is a frequent speaker on various aspects of taxation for local business and service groups. He has taught continuing professional education tax courses at the national and local levels, and has served as an instructor at Northern Illinois University and Elgin Community College. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Accounting from Northern Illinois University. Thompson resides with his family in St. Charles, Illinois.
