Sikich can trace its roots back to 1928, with the formation of a small CPA firm in Champaign, Illinois. Steady growth of this practice brought about the addition of two branch offices, one in Springfield and one in Aurora. In 1982, when the Champaign office merged with a national CPA firm, the remaining two offices adopted Sikich Gardner & Co as their corporate name. Over the next decade, Sikich Gardner experienced substantial growth, and became a leading provider of accounting services, which were primarily audit, tax, and management consulting.

In 1996, Sikich Gardner leveraged its business consulting expertise to transform itself and adapt to changing times. It achieved this by aggressively recruiting talented individuals with non-traditional skill sets for CPA firms, and also by seeking out successful companies with proven track records in specific service areas as merger candidates. Over the next few years, several mergers broadened the Firm's ability to provide comprehensive financial, operational, management and technology solutions for its clients. Today's Sikich provides accounting and consulting, technology, human resource consulting, small business, marketing, asset management, corporate finance, and retirement plan services. 

Like most successful enterprises, Sikich continues to evolve. In order to maintain its ability to provide innovative solutions for its clients, Sikich constantly seeks out additional talent and expertise to complement and strengthen its current mix of services.
